Description

This chili owes its name to the similarity of its fruit's shape to that of a bishop's miter. Originally, the Bishops Crown Chili, also known as a tulip chili, bell chili, lantern chili, peri peri or Christmas bell, comes from Barbados. The plant forms thick-fleshed, hanging and very aromatic fruit that turns from green to red as it ripens. The plants can grow up to 5 feet (1.60 m) high and are very robust.

With appropriate care and wintering, they can last for several years. One packet of Bishops Crown Chili Seeds (Capsicum baccatum) contains 10 unmixed seeds. The heat level of these peppers is 5?6 on our scale and the fruit mature in 70?80 days.
